WhatsApp has just published a release candidate for the new Android version of the app. Here, Meta as the operator not only took care of some errors, but also introduced a new function. With the new version, users can decide individually in which language WhatsApp is displayed. So far, WhatsApp has simply adopted the language set in the smartphone.

When you start the app for the first time, WhatsApp asks whether you want to use the mobile phone language or a different one. However, users also have the option at any time afterwards Change the language in the app settings (Source: WABetaInfo).

The fact that WhatsApp gives its users more choice should also be the case related to Android 13. This is where Google first introduced the option of setting languages on an app basis and no longer just system-wide. It can be assumed that WhatsApp will also provide the function for older Android versions.

In addition to simply changing the language, the release candidate now presented does not offer any other new functions. Instead, the developers took care of troubleshooting. Among other things, the layout of the GIF keyboard now looks more appropriate.
