WhatsApp: instant messaging is radically changing its interface, this is what it looks like

Meta wants to shake up its application somewhat WhatsApp and offer a new interface for statuses as well as channel recommendations.

For several days, WhatsApp has been rolling out a major update, already accessible to certain users via the Google Play Beta program. This new version of the application (version 2.24.12.20) introduces two notable modifications: a new display for the status section and a redesigned presentation for the recommended channels.

WhatsApp’s News tab should soon get a makeover

For several weeks now, the Meta group seems to want to pull out all the stops around its various instant messaging applications. After giving its WhatsApp messaging a well-deserved lick of paint, the company founded by Mark Zuckerberg more recently formalized the arrival of “Communities” on Messenger.

Obviously, the American giant does not intend to stop there. Indeed, as confirmed by our colleagues on the site WABetaInfothe application with more than two billion users will soon undergo some improvements to its interface.

We mentioned it at the beginning of the year, a redesign of the WhatsApp News tab has been in preparation for some time. As a result, status updates will now appear as cards instead of circles as is currently the case. This also means that the latter will be more visible and that it will no longer be necessary to open each status individually to be able to view them.

If this feature was previously only accessible to a limited number of testers, update 2.24.12.20 now extends its availability to a wider range of users.

WhatsApp: towards a much cleaner interface?

Another new feature in this update: the redesign of the space reserved for recommended channels, located just at the bottom of the News tab (see screenshot above). WhatsApp abandons the horizontal presentation in favor of a vertical list, which will undoubtedly facilitate reading and navigation within the application.

Indeed, this change should allow users to browse channel suggestions more quickly without having to scroll horizontally, making exploring new content more intuitive and efficient. This improvement is part of WhatsApp’s desire to optimize the user experience and perfect the design of its application.

These two changes are already available to certain users who have downloaded the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android. Still according to information kindly shared by WABetaInfoit even seems that a larger-scale deployment is planned in the coming days.
