WhatsApp has so far only been available as a pseudo program on macOS. But that will soon change, because work is being done on a native app for Macs. This is particularly worthwhile for Macs with Apple’s M chips, since fewer resources are required.

WhatsApp: native app for Macs is coming
WhatsApp’s previous desktop program for Macs packs a punch. In the completely redesigned version, which is currently being tested, can be dispensed with WhatsApp Web. Instead, it is a native app for macOS that makes use of Apple’s M processors and requires significantly less memory to run.
the WhatsApp beta for macOS is already available in a very early version, but can currently only be tested by a few users (source: WABetaInfo). A look at the program makes it clear that WhatsApp and Meta as operators still have some work to do.
in the Comparison with the Windows variant there are a few clear differences at this point. In the left sidebar of the macOS version, you can quickly switch between chats, calls and other WhatsApp features. Some features, such as status and group calling, are not available in the early beta. Voice messages are also missing.
This must be done after the first program start iPhone or Android phone connected to Mac will. As usual, this is done using a QR code that is scanned with a smartphone. However, the beta on the Mac still has its problems with chat synchronization between multiple devices. This is likely to change in future versions.

Interested parties can take part in the beta test if they already have WhatsApp before the official launch want to use under macOS. This requires registration via TestFlight. WhatsApp has not yet announced when the final version will be released.
