WhatsApp: Mark Zuckerberg announces new feature

Just a few weeks ago, WhatsApp introduced a new feature that allows you to respond to messages without having to write a message yourself, as was previously the case. As soon as the function is available, it is already being improved.

WhatsApp improves reactions

Update from July 11, 2022: Mark Zuckerberg himself has now officially announced that you can use all emojis for reactions in WhatsApp:

Original article:

WhatsApp only introduced reactions to messages in Messenger a few weeks ago and released it for beta testers on both Android and iOS. Since then you can reply to messages with six different emojis. But it doesn’t stop there, because WhatsApp is significantly expanding the feature. It was already expected that the selection of emojis would be expanded. It’s also logical, because each of us has favorite emojis that we like to use and that are currently not available. Since it is better if you can choose the emojis themselves. That will come, but a much more important option.

In the future, you will not only see the emojis when you press and hold a message in WhatsApp, but also a plus sign. Then you can do that not only select more emojis, but also options. So you can mark the message to find it later more easily. You can reply to them, copy them or get more information. You can also delete the message if you wrote it yourself (source: WABetaInfo). The newly popped menu makes these options much easier to access. They used to show up very high in Messenger.

The new options for reactions in WhatsApp are so far only included in the beta versions of Android and iOS. The function is slowly being rolled out there on the server side. So even if you’re like me installed the latest beta version for Android is not guaranteed that you can access it now. That is likely to change in the coming days, however.
