This is a future feature that has been talked about since last November. For several months, there have been indications that WhatsApp will soon welcome Communities, a function adjacent to groups. If the contours around this upcoming novelty are still blurred, WABetaInfo found new information about him in the guts of the latest version of the app.
The specialized site shared a never-before-seen snapshot showing how Communities could be introduced on the iOS version of WhatsApp. Admins would then have the ability to bring their group chats together, i.e. add all managed chat groups to one place for easy access. They could then communicate with all participants, for example by sending them announcements and messages to keep them informed.
A feature that is long overdue
Communities continue to take shape over the weeks, and it becomes more apparent that they are primarily intended to improve the management of group conversations, rather than to replace them. According to other options previously discovered, the Communities function should make it possible to link up to ten sub-groups within the same discussion space around a chosen theme. From there, admins can add a name and description, then create an “Announcement” subgroup that only they can manage. The objective here is to send the famous messages for all members of the community.
Community administrators will also be able to invite new people to join them via a QR Code invitation system or a more traditional link. Communities should also distinguish themselves from groups by addressing more rounded icons. The feature is still under development, we will have to wait a little longer before knowing more, especially since WhatsApp has never officially communicated on it.
