WhatsApp: This is changing now when you send a gif

WHATSAPP

WhatsApp is making a change in how it handles gif files in chats. As a result, you will have to click around less in Messenger in the future.

In addition to emojis and stickers, you can also send gifs on WhatsApp. These are short clips or animations. These are particularly popular as a greeting for holidays such as Christmas or New Year’s Eve. In order to view the animation, it was always necessary to click on the image. Apparently that is changing now.

As reported by WABetaInfo, animated gifs in WhatsApp beta version 2.23.10.2 for Android phones now play automatically when you scroll through the chat and a gif is displayed. However, the file will only play automatically the first time you split it. If you want to look at it again later, you have to click on it as usual.

It is still unclear when WhatsApp will release the change from the test phase and roll it out for all accounts. It also remains to be seen whether the autoplay function can be deactivated in the settings.

WhatsApp recently made its new tablet view optional after protests. It can now be deactivated in the settings of the messenger.
