WhatsApp is currently testing the addition of a dialer in the beta version of its application, to call any number, as long as the recipient is registered on WhatsApp.
WhatsApp updates come one after the other and are not the same. Meta continues to improve its messaging application to make it the essential communication tool on your smartphone, even aiming to replace native iOS and Android applications.
This is particularly the case here with a new feature currently in beta which brings WhatsApp even closer to your Phone application.
A dialer in WhatsApp
A new beta of WhatsApp for Android (version 2.23.15.11) now adds a dialer (via WABetaInfo), allowing you to call any number of a person registered on WhatsApp. It was already possible to easily chat with users without having them in your contacts, so this feature allows you to call them with the same freedom.
And if you want to avoid being disturbed by strangers on the application, since last summer there has been an option to block calls from unknown numbers. WhatsApp therefore tends to open its application to new uses while allowing protection against abuse and unwanted communications.
WhatsApp calls are made via the internet and therefore your data subscription or Wi-Fi connection. If they show a certain latency compared to a classic call, they are a good way to carry out encrypted audio or video communications, particularly to ‘international.
Currently in beta, this WhatsApp update should be rolled out to all Android users in the coming weeks.
