WhatsApp will allow you to help your grandparents settle their phone

A new WhatsApp function has been discovered: screen sharing.

We have all been faced with these calls with our parents or grandparents in distress in front of their phone because they cannot adjust a feature. Except that, without seeing the screen of the device in question, guiding the person from a distance is often tedious. Fortunately, WhatsApp is here.

Screen sharing is coming to WhatsApp

The WABetaInfo site noted the arrival of a new feature on version 2.23.10.4 of WhatsApp on Android: screen sharing. During calls, the menu displays a new icon representing a telephone with an arrow pointing to the right. By clicking on it, the phone screen is then recorded and transmitted to our correspondent.

For this to work, of course, both participants in the call must have a recent version of WhatsApp, but also Android. In addition, permission must be granted to WhatsApp to access this data.

This novelty should simplify certain exchanges, whether to show the progress of a manipulation on a smartphone or to share with a friend an explanation in a game for example.

For the moment, screen sharing on WhatsApp is reserved for a handful of users of the beta version of the application on Android. It should nevertheless be deployed on a larger scale in the coming weeks, as is the case for example for the modification of messages after sending.
