WhatsApp will double the maximum group size again (you are not ready)

In the near future, WhatsApp will further increase the maximum number of participants in a group. Enough to give rise to ever more muscular and controversial exchanges…

Ever larger and more influential groups?

Social networks and other instant messaging services can be both formidable and dangerous tools. Indeed, many groups flourish on these platforms with the aim of bringing together several people around a common theme. Alas, these virtual gatherings can spawn hateful conversations and spread misinformation along the way.

Powerful groups have in the past influenced many Internet users through misinformation, particularly in the context of national elections (as in Brazil, for example). A phenomenon that should not diminish on the side of WhatsApp, which will soon be proposing a significant change to its group system. In the not so distant future, the number of participants in these online conversations will be significantly increased.

At the moment, a WhatsApp group is able to accommodate 512 participants. A limit that will soon increase to 1,024 people. Some beta testers already have access to this new feature. Let’s just note that this limitation on groups has not yet been massively deployed. It will therefore be necessary to be patient before being able to send new bursts of invitations for your favorite group.

Remember that, for its part, the Business version of WhatsApp is about to receive a premium subscription for businesses. The latter will then have access to exclusive functionalities such as the possibility of creating short and fully personalized commercial links or the fact of being able to connect up to 10 different devices to a single professional account.
