WhatsApp will offer to delete a message 2 days after it was sent

WhatsApp just rolled out this change that gives you more time to delete a message you no longer want.

A message sent too quickly? WhatsApp lets you delete it without delay

Just today, the Meta Group’s instant messenger communicated about new privacy options that should be available to all users in the coming weeks.

The online service also now offers a practical option which concerns the deletion of messages in the transcript for one of your contacts or all the members of a group in which you are chatting. Simply tap on the message and hold to access this option.

If you are a regular WhatsApp user, you know that it is possible to delete a message after publication, to correct a typing error, correct incorrect information or simply remove something you should not have published.

Now you have two days to delete a message, if your application is up to date

Until now, WhatsApp gave each user one hour to delete their message from a conversation. From now on, the delay increases to just over 48 hours. This update works for both individual chats and group chats.

The feature is available now, but we advise you to wait a few more days to be sure that the 48-hour delay is functional. Indeed, WhatsApp specifies that all users must have the latest version of messaging and some of your friends or relatives may need a little more time to update.

It is also important to note that users will not receive a notification indicating that a message could not be deleted for one or more of the contacts present in the group and using an earlier version of the software.
