  • A new icon has been discovered in the beta version of WhatsApp Desktop.
  • It complements the well-known ticks next to a message.
  • The messenger uses this to mark reactions to status messages.

If you send a message via WhatsApp, the messenger shows you the status of this via a tick. One tick means the message has been sent, two means the recipient has received it and the gray ticks turn blue and he has read it. In the future, a circular symbol could appear next to the hook.

This is hidden behind the new symbol

It was discovered by the blog WA Beta Info. According to this, WhatsApp will mark messages in chats with which you have reacted to status reports from your contacts. The blog claims to have found the symbol in the current beta version of WhatsApp Desktop.

However, the function is still under development and has therefore not yet been released for testers. It is still unclear if and when WhatsApp will integrate them into Messenger. WhatsApp recently announced numerous innovations for 2022. But these mainly affect groups.

Now the developers could dedicate themselves intensively to the topic “WhatsApp Status”. Recently, other innovations in this regard were discovered in the WhatsApp beta, such as the ability to call up status messages directly from the chat list.

New button and editing function planned

But there will also be innovations in other areas of the app soon. So the messenger should show a button at certain moments, with which you should be able to undo mishaps.

Annoying typos will also soon be a thing of the past in WhatsApp thanks to another change.

In addition to the circle and hook, there are other symbols in WhatsApp with a clock and a star. We explain to you what is behind these.
