There are really enthusiasts who manage to do wonderful things like the Reality mod team for Battlefield 3, of which here is the first trailer.
A team of 80 modders have worked tirelessly over the past seven years to create the Ultimate Battlefield 3 experience players have been dreaming of, including enhanced visuals, new gameplay mechanics, and realistic destruction.

The mod in question is planned for the July 17, 2022 and the goal is clear:
Our fundamental goal is to create immersive gameplay and a more realistic experience
Thus spawn points are deployed by the players themselves, rally points allow team-wide respawns, and squad leaders can deploy resources to FOBs such as mortars, TOW missiles, AA guns or even sandbags…
A mod that leaves nothing to chance
A VOIP (in-game communication) system has been added that allows teammates to communicate on a dedicated channel and gives squad leaders the ability to contact HQ. There is also a local chat to talk to players whether they are friends or enemies… In short, multiplayer as we like for this type of game. An even more user-friendly Battlefield 3!
But where modders are strong is that they have revamped Battlefield 3 with new visual effects, new physics, new textures, new models and a simpler user interface. The maps have also been revamped, with for launch a total of five maps from the original game that have been revamped one. There’s even a new dynamic weather system that adds a 24-hour day/night cycle. Best of all, even the destruction of the environment is more realistic.
Obviously all the armament has been redesigned, particularly in terms of ballistics and visuals. Players will need to own Battlefield 3 and all of its DLCs to install Reality.
