When does the Ahsoka series take place in the Star Wars universe?

The new Star Wars series, airing on Star Wars from August 23, 2023, will follow the adventures of Jedi Ahsoka Tano. But where does it take place in relation to the Star Wars universe?

Ahsoka is broadcast exclusively in France on Disney+ from August 23, 2023. You can subscribe in several ways:

The Force is with her: Ahsoka finally has the right to its own live action series. After being confined to animated series, sometimes shunned by the general public, then to secondary roles in The Mandalorian and in The Boba Fett Bookthe Jedi finally has its hour of glory.

In the eponymous series, Ahsoka Tano will have the main role, and she will have to face one of the most mythical characters of the extended universe of Star Wars : Grand Admiral Thrawn. Since she appeared in the Boba Fett and Mandalorian series, it is not impossible that we will come across certain characters seen in previous sagas.

Before being able to enjoy the adventures of the Jedi, however, an important question must be answered, the answer to which is not always obvious: when do the adventures of Ahsoka Tano take place in the universe of Star Wars ?

When do episodes of the Ahsoka Tano series take place in the universe of Star Wars ?

Star Wars is a cult cinema saga for several reasons, but the order in which to watch the different films and series is not always very obvious. With the output by Ahsokathe same question therefore arises: at what point is the series in relation to the films?

To answer simply, the series Ahsoka takes place shortly after film VI, Return of the Jedi, after the defeat of the Empire against the rebellion led by Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. To be more precise, the Ahsoka series takes place at the same time as The Mandalorian And The Boba Fett Book. The three series are linked, in particular because all the characters intersect, which is also why we talk about mandoverse (a film will come to conclude the adventures of our heroes).

The series therefore takes place after the original trilogy of Star Wars, episodes IV, V and VI, which recount the rebellion against the Empire, and after the prelogy, i.e. episodes I, II and III, which recount the seizure of power by the Sith and the end of the Republic. However, it is located before the last films released at the cinema, that is to say episodes VII, VIII and IX, which is called the postlogy.

To recap: Ahsoka Tano’s story is set after the deaths of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader, as the Rebel Alliance has just won — but before the rise of the First Order, and the start of the Ray’s story.

Ahsoka Tano’s story begins before

However, it is important to remember that the story of the character Ahsoka Tano begins before. The Jedi makes her first appearance in the animated film The Clone Warsreleased in 2008 and which tells the rest of episode II, Attack of the Clones. She was then 14 years old, and had just started her Jedi training – and she was going to meet Anakin Skywalker, who was to become her mentor.

His character is developed during other series, which we advise you to watch if you have the time, in particular The Clone Wars: The Series, Tales of the JediAnd Rebels. Although she never appears in the films, her story unfolds concurrently with the events of Episodes II, III, IV, V, and VI. Ahsoka Tano has therefore gone through one of the most troubled periods in the history of the galaxy.
