As tributes multiply following the death of the late Guy Marchand, in an article dated December 15, the day of his death, BFMTV worked to retrace the most significant events in the life of the actor and singer, who had just become a grandfather… In particular, our colleagues looked back on the brilliant career of the father of two children, but also on more personal aspects of his life, such as his opinion on politics. And on the matter, the actor renowned for his outspokenness had delivered an uncompromising opinion in an interview given to Figarostarting by lampooning a first political movement without taking any gloves: “The right disgusts me with its selfishness, they are rednecks, for me…”
However, we should not believe that left-wing politicians were more favored by the actor: quite the contrary, the one who would have experienced an ordeal at the end of his life found them just as hopeless, as he had again confided to our colleagues of Figaro : “The left bores me. Between disgust and boredom, I don’t know what to choose.” Deeply disillusioned by his conviction that no political movement was capable of representing him, the actor also confided a rather shocking fact: “I’ve never voted in my life.” However, in making this revelation, Guy Marchand did not wish to be emulated. “It’s nothing to be proud of, I know.”he then added, regretting not being able to identify with any party.

A brilliant career
The deceased actor, who said he was “broke” at the end of his life, leaves behind an extraordinary career. A great fan of jazz and tango, the twice-married crooner immersed himself very early in the world of music, having rubbed shoulders with extraordinary talents in his youth, such as Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli. Much to his dismay, his most popular song, Destinywas one of the few he hated… In the cinema, he specialized in secondary roles, but in front of the cameras of the greatest directors, such as François Truffaut, Maurice Pialat, Bertrand Tavernier… This had also earned him a César in 1982 for Jail. Finally, on television, he was the face of the famous Nestor Burmaappealing to both viewers and the author of the novels that inspired the series.
