when is Discord voice chat? A specific date has just fallen

For now, the integration of Discord on PS5 is more than basic, but that will “soon” change. A reputable insider shares the launch date for voice chat that would arrive with the 7.00 update.

Eventually, all Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One users will be able to use Discord voice chat. PS5 players will not be left out and we even have a big hint on the arrival date of this highly anticipated feature.

Discord voice chat coming to PS5 by early 2023

Insider Tom Henderson revealed a new scoop (via Exputer) concerning the total integration of Discord on PS5. For the moment, owners of the console and a Discord account must be content to link their accounts to share their activity. It is thus impossible to benefit from the flagship feature: voice chat.

Once your Discord account is linked, the game you’re currently playing on PS4 or PS5™ will show up as your activity, period! You can even choose to display your PlayStation™Network Online ID on your profile so your Discord friends can add and follow you. This is especially useful to find out if your friend is currently playing a game that supports cross-play on another platform.

Discord support.

According to Henderson, the Discord voice chat on PS5 will be available on March 8, 2023 with update 7.00. This is the date communicated by its sources, if nothing changes by then. Once this integration is complete, you can, for example, chat with friends who are on PC, mobile or Xbox, while playing on PS5.

Before that, firmware 6.00 would arrive on September 7, 2022. For once, it will be more quickly verifiable.
