This humorous post didn’t really make people laugh and fits in with a way of writing skits, radio and television, very dated. A large part of the reactions on social networks, which are today the main means for civil society to express themselves, denounces a culture of rape uninhibited and here promoted on the public service. “The cause of women in your home, it depends on the days and hours ”, “Filthy sexism, nameless beauferie, rape culture”, could we read on Twitter this weekend. Another user denounces this French tradition of saucy which, according to him, still has a bright future ahead of it, writing: “This is why the” Grosses Têtes “are the number one radio audience in the aprem and the most downloaded podcast in France…”

During this sketch, which one would believe to come out of the 90s, Laurent Ruquier also attacked his colleague Élise Lucet. Indeed, for the program “Special Envoy”, the journalist and her team collected and verified the testimonies of women (one of whom was a minor at the time of the facts) accusing Nicolas Hulot of having raped them. The day before the broadcast, the former minister spoke on BFM TV accusing Élise Lucet of putting him on trial in the media. What the journalist had answered on the set of C to you: “The voice of women is central in society. The job of journalists is to investigate these cases very seriously, that is public service ”. And to continue: “Let’s imagine that we discover a scandal that dates back 25 years, which is a state affair, which concerns politicians, would we refrain from talking about it because this affair is 25 years old? There is no limitation in journalism. Sometimes there is even historical journalist who goes back two centuries and we are right to do so ”.

Can we laugh at everything when they are always the same people we laugh about?

If Laurent Ruquier’s humorous post is in no way funny, it is because it is a form of humor carried by people not concerned by the struggles against sexism and sexual assault. The host makes fun of the principle of prescription, rape and the victims’ words and thus discredits them. Automatically, the jurisprudence of “we can laugh at anything” is heard, but the same problem persists: why are those we hear the most humorous men? And why systematically have the same comic spring: making fun of sociological minorities (women, but also non-white people, the disabled …)?

In short, analyzing social issues through humor can be a healthy and fun exercise. But we still need to know how to renew ourselves and understand that times are fortunately changing …
