An 83-year-old caused a terrible traffic accident in Lower Austria on Thursday: The elderly driver is said to have overtaken a vehicle in front of him at a significantly excessive speed and as a result crashed head-on into an oncoming vehicle. Any help came too late for the 53-year-old driver.
The 83-year-old Upper Austrian was driving his car on the B122 in Behamberg (Amstetten district) on Thursday. Despite the double barrier, he is said to have overtaken the vehicle in front of him. He collided head-on with the 53-year-old’s oncoming car. Any help came too late for the Hungarian.Two other vehicles were hit in the accident or thrown into a ditch.Three injured people were taken to hospitalThe 83-year-old was seriously injured and flown to the hospital in Wels by emergency helicopter. The two other drivers involved – men aged 43 and 58 – were taken to the hospital in Steyr with injuries.
