Since 2018, the energy check has provided a helping hand to millions of households in France. As a reminder, this financial assistance is intended to relieve payment energy bills, the purchase of fuel as well as certain energy work in your home. The energy check soon to be sent to millions of low-income households
This year 2024 again, these are 5.6 million households who will receive an energy check, corresponding to the lowest 20% of households. This financial contribution should be used to reduce the payment of energy-related expenses, while electricity prices have again suffered significant increases at the start of the year. If in 2023 the energy checks had been sent to beneficiaries between April 21 and May 30, this year, the sending dates are included between April 2 and May 15, 2024according to declarations from the Ministry of the Economy to our colleagues atActu.fr. Am I affected by the payment of the 2024 energy check?
At the beginning of April, beneficiaries will therefore be invited to look in their mailbox to find an energy check. As a reminder, you do not have to carry out any administrative procedures upstream because it is sent automatically. The check will be sent directly to the address you have provided to the tax authorities. Since payment dates differ between departments, the delivery schedule per department is still “in development“, specified Bercy.
Just like last year, the amount of the energy check will fluctuate between 48 euros and 277 euros, and its eligibility criteria will remain the same. As a reminder, eligible households must have a reference tax income (RFR) of less than 11,000 euros per consumption unit. This year, it is important to be particularly attentive because an administrative hiccup shook the ministry. As the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, explained on France 5 last February, nearly a million households could see receipt of their energy check compromised. However, for affected households who think they are eligible, Bercy has announced that a complaints desk will be set up.
