Where to eat a crepe in Paris for Candlemas?

After the turkey in December, the galette des rois in January, there are the pancakes in February. Associated with Candlemas, the French love it. You can prepare them at home, but also use this pretext to go to a creperie. Especially since Paris has no shortage of good addresses.

Breizh cafe

We are not going to lie to each other: year after year, the best Parisian crepes remain those of Breizh café. From Batignolles to Montorgueil via the Canal Saint-Martin, founder Bertrand Larcher’s recipe continues to please. Flambéed with calvados, lemon cream or simply Bordier butter, the crepes are both classic and daring.

Brutus

“Make crepe great again” announces the site. The crepophile restaurant in Batignolles and its little brother rue de la Gaîté continue to delight Paris with their “Yvonne”, “Jeannine” and “Lucienne” galettes (from €10). And for Candlemas, a special creation is to be discovered. These are wheat pancakes made samosas style (€7.5 for four) and garnished with pan-fried pineapple, accompanied by a lime and basil marinade. Everything is to be dipped in a homemade salted butter caramel and enjoyed with a cider colada.

Tanguy

This little hipster creperie has all the ingredients to please: organic buckwheat flour, semi-salted raw butter, andouille de Guémené, chouchen, etc. We must add a fine collection of ciders, beers made in Brittany and fast and efficient service. The plus: it is possible to buy pancakes to take away: €6 for 6 or €10 for 12.

Round

Round like a pancake. Well known to the inhabitants of Belleville, this pretty address has some delicious surprises in store. From the complete classic (€8) to the intriguing Rémalard (€10) with bacon and Roquefort, the bilig heats up and sends out recipes full of audacity. And for dessert? an unmissable brown sugar butter (€3). Everything is served with a smile that we guess behind the mask.

Krugen

Krügen, named after an islet on Penmarc’h (Finistère), offers a wide choice on its menu. The sausage pancakes coexist with more complex and very appetizing recipes (fourme d’Ambert, andouille de Guéménée, camembert). And in the glass? Nantes kir, chouchen, hot cider or more soberly Plancoët. Note: Krügen is accessible via Deliveroo or Ubert Eats.
