Where to legally watch House of the Dragon, the Game of Thrones spin-off?

Three years ago, the most emblematic series of recent years ended, Game of Thrones. If the eighth and final season had been able to disappoint some of the fans, the announcement of a spin-off on House Targaryen had still been received with enthusiasm. This prequel takes place 172 years before Game of Thrones and tells the story of the civil war that led to the fall of the Targaryens and the disappearance of the dragons. Here’s how to watch House of the Dragon legally.

The first episode was broadcast on the night of August 21 to 22 and made the best start to an HBO series with almost 10 million viewers. Media and fan reviews this time around are overwhelmingly positive. This first episode seems to have reassured the many fans of the saga of Georges RR Martin. The series has a total of 10 episodes and a season 2 has already been confirmed by the channel.

How to legally watch House of the Dragon in France?

Watch House of the Dragon Directly on OCS

Since 2008, OCS has an exclusive partnership with HBO, which allows it to broadcast the series of the American channel. If this partnership ends this year with the probable arrival in France of the HBO Max streaming platform, the first season of House of the Dragon is indeed broadcast exclusively on OCS.

For the biggest fans, each episode is broadcast simultaneously with the United States on the night of Sunday to Monday at 3 am in VOST but also in VF. This is the best way to avoid spoilers. It is then available on demand so you can watch it whenever you want.

To subscribe, you have two options:

  • The subscription two screens for €10.99 per month
  • The subscription three screens for €12.99 per month

These two subscriptions are non-binding and you benefit from a 7-day trial period. If you share the price of the subscription with your friends or family, it comes to less than 5 euros per month, or about 10 euros to see the whole series.

Amazon Prime Video and Molotov

If OCS holds the exclusive broadcast of the House of the Dragon series, you can still find the series directly on the Amazon Prime Video or Molotov platform by subscribing to the OCS channel.

The two platforms offer two different offers:

  • On Amazon Prime Videoyou have the subscription three screens for €11.99 per month. This offer is without engagement and allows you to have 7 day trial period.
  • On Molotovyou have the subscription a screen for €12.99 per month. The offer is also without engagement but you don’t have no trial period.

The Amazon Prime Video offer is therefore much more interesting than that of Molotov and it is even more interesting than the OCS offer if you can share the price of the subscription with two of your relatives since it will only cost you 4 euros per month!

The MyCanal offer

Perhaps, you already have access to OCS with your Canal+ subscription. We therefore advise you to check directly on your MyCanal application if you can watch the series for free without having to purchase an additional subscription.

If not, you can subscribe to the Canal+ Ciné Séries offer. This is not the most affordable offer (far from it), but it allows you to have access to both OCS programs, and therefore to the House of the Dragon series, Canal+, Netflix, Disney+… If you want access to a huge catalog of series and films, this is an option to consider, especially if you are under 26.

To subscribe, you have two options:

  • The subscription without commitment is €40.99 per month and €20.49 per month for those under 26.
  • With a two-year commitment, the subscription costs you €34.99 per month for the first year, then €40.99 per month for the following months.

Both subscriptions allow 2 simultaneous users.
