Civil servants earning less than 3,250 euros gross per month will receive a purchasing power bonus before the end of 2023, the amount of which is between 300 and 800 euros depending on income.
Faced with the grumbling of the unions who consider the pay rises of the July index point too low, the government had promised a purchasing power bonus to support low and medium salaries in the public service. Who is affected by the purchasing power bonus?
THE agents of the hospital public service, the state public service, including teachers, and the military who earn a maximum of 3,250 euros gross per month can claim this bonus. Half of state civil servants and 70% of public hospital workers are affected, according to estimates by the Ministry of Civil Service. Another aspect of this boost, contract workers are also entitled to it.
On the contrary, the agents of the territorial public service, who work for municipalities, departments or regions in particular, are excluded from this scheme, as are pupils and students on work placements.
What is the premium amount?
The amount of the purchasing power bonus will be included between 300 and 800 euros according to gross compensation received over the period from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. To enter the scale provided, you must not have earned more than 39,000 euros gross – or 3,250 euros gross / month – in this space-time.

It will therefore be necessary to have received 1975 euros gross monthly on average over the period to obtain the maximum of 800 euros. Conversely, the amount of 300 euros will be awarded to a person with a gross income of between 2800 and 3250 euros gross per month.
If certain civil servants did not work for the whole periodthe premium will be paid to them in proportion to the number of months under contract.
When will the premium be paid?
The minister did not communicate on this point to which the decree does not respond either. Only certainty, the payment will be made in one go… before the end of 2023.
