who dominates the duel over the image of banks?

Crdit Mutuel and Crdit Agricole remain the two favorite banking brands of the French. But the duel shifted in favor of the first in the 1st quarter of 2024, while the Caisse d’Epargne returned to the third step of the podium.

Crdit Mutuel is moving forward. During the previous wave of the Posternak-Ifop barometer of the image of large companies, last November, the mutual bank, the indestructible banking brand preferred by the French, saw Crdit Agricole getting closer, just two small points.

Crdit Mutuel, Crdit Agricole: the gap is narrowing in the banks’ image rankings

The start of 2024 was more favorable for Crdit Mutuel. In the new barometer (1) revealed in recent days, its image index (2) rises by 2 points, while that of Crdit Agricole falls by 4. Thanks to this small increase, Crdit Mutuel rejoins the top 10 favorite brands of the Frenchstill dominated by Michelin, Intermarch and Peugeot.

Crdit Agricole, for its part, finds itself closely followed by Caisse d’Epargne, which recorded the most significant increase of this wave (+5 points) and returned to the podium, ahead of Banque Populaire.

Note the impressive drop of BoursoBank, which lost 17 points and found itself last in the ranking, with an image index of +6. A poor performance which is mainly explained by the change of commercial brand of the online bank, formerly called Boursorama Banque, which may have disconcerted the respondents. Thus, more than a third of them (36%) did not wish to comment on the image of BoursoBank, compared to 23% during the previous wave, carried out before the name change.

Insurers: status quo between Macif and MAIF

Little change in the image of insurance companies. Macif and MAIF remain quite well in the lead, despite a small drop of one point each. In third place, Maaf moves back in front of Groupama, which falls by 2 points. But the main drop in image concerns MMA: the brand loses 3 points and is now closely followed by Axa (+3), still last in the ranking.
