“Who elected you?” : Macron reframes an environmental activist at the Salon de l’Agriculture

Strolling through the aisles of the Salon, the Head of State was challenged strongly by an activist from the “Last renovation” collective, to which he replied in a muscular tone.

You are demonstrating a form of civic violence“: Emmanuel Macron got smashed on Saturday with a man claiming to be part of the collective”Last renovation” during his stroll at the Salon de l’agriculture, deploring that the activist refuses the “debate“.

The young man, who wore a t-shirt crossed out with the words “To what do you use?“, challenged the Head of State, calling on him to”listen to scientific reportson climate change. “I’m here to tell you that we won’t stop, because we’re tired of asking nicely. Hear that, otherwise it’s going to be terrible. I finished what I had to say“, he launched, pointing his index finger at the head of state, before refusing to listen to his answer. “We have already heard you!“, he justified himself.

You are demonstrating a form of civic violence“, then retorted Emmanuel Macron, questioning him:”I am elected by the French people, you are elected by whom?“. “This is not a debate!“, insisted the activist. “Well then, leave, if it’s not a debate!“, replied the President of the Republic.

While the young man promised to “do not let it go“, arguing that “it’s the life of (his) little sister who (was) at stake“, Emmanuel Macron took it up, evoking “the life of farmers is the life of our compatriots“. Still challenged on “thermal renovation of buildings“, Emmanuel Macron replied:”That’s what we do!»

I want to answer you, but you do not have the courage and the coherence to listen to an answer. It looks like you, and that’s useless!“, concluded the Head of State, before pointing out, a few minutes later: “Me, I agree to be yelled at, to be pushed around, but I don’t really like questioning without debate“.

“I would have preferred not to have to do that”

Invited to the BFMTV set on Saturday afternoon, Pierre, the activist, defended himself by saying that he would have “a thousand times preferred not to have to do that“. “It hurts me to do this, I’m really sad that it’s come to this“, he assured.

Declaring that it was not achosen method“, the young activist also specified that the security service had “kindly renewed“, without being “especially violent“. Follower of the strategy of a bang, the Last Renovation collective, founded in early 2022, has already disrupted the Tour de France, Roland-Garros or a PSG-OM match. Friday evening, one of its activists briefly entered the stage during the Cesar ceremony.
