Jean-Pierre Pernaut had a busy family life. Before Nathalie Marquay, he lived happy years with Dominique Bonnet, the mother of his two eldest.

The mythical presenter of 1 p.m., Jean-Pierre Pernaut died on Wednesday March 2. In November 2021, he announced that he was suffering from inoperable lung cancer, after having already fought against prostate cancer. At 71, the journalist is gone.

The journalist who was at the head of the JT for 33 years is part of the French audiovisual heritage and leaves great sadness in the hearts of his loyal viewers.

Jean-Pierre Pernaut also leaves behind a large family. He is the father of four children. Lou and Tom are his youngest, whom they had with his current wife, Nathalie Marquay. Julia and Olivier, meanwhile, are older and born of his union with Dominique Bonnet, his first wife.

“I have a big family that I don’t see often enough for my taste”, confided with regret Jean-Pierre Pernaut in an interview granted to Paris Match in 2016.

Jean-Pierre Pernaut and his twenties alongside Dominique Bonnet

Dominique Bonnet represents the first life of Jean-Pierre Pernaut. The journalist had met his first wife in the 1970s. Their marriage lasted until the 2000s and gave birth to two children in 1978 and 1991.

Their union has never been too publicized. At the time, Dominique Bonnet was always discreet and did not appear publicly despite the success of Jean-Pierre Pernaut. She was at the presenter’s side during the first hours of his career as a journalist.

Little information has filtered so far on the first wife of the one who has long embodied the 1 p.m. of TF1. At the time, Jean-Pierre Pernaut did not speak of his private life. It was only in the 2000s that he dared to evoke the life of his first two children. In particular his passion for automobiles and that of drones that he shares with his son Olivier. As for his daughter Julia, he evoked her in these flattering terms in Paris Match: “my eldest, is a gynecologist in Amiens. She has two daughters, Iris and Eléa. With Léo, Olivier’s son, I am three times a grandfather.”

In the 2000s, Jean-Pierre Pernaut separated from Dominique Bonnet. Then he met the ex-miss France Nathalie Marquay whom he married in 2007.
