Who is Erin Carter on Netflix: what is this first top thriller series in just a few days?

You’ve probably never heard of this series and yet it is the first of the top on Netflix: spotlight on Who is Erin Carter.

The hegemony of the documentary on Amber Heard and Johnny Depp did not last long. The latter was dethroned after a week by Who is Erin Carter?, a British series which Netflix did not really promote. But that didn’t stop it from being first on the list a few days after its release.

Evin Ahmad (Snabba Cash) plays a British teacher living in Spain who becomes involved in a supermarket robbery because one of the thieves claims to recognize her. In Palomino, a city full of secrets, her life changes. Erin must clear her name and protect her family.

Over the 7 episodes that make up season 1 of Who is Erin Carter, the writers tell the story of the heroine’s past. The series also serves us some action scenes – via hand-to-hand combat with a super Erin – to offer a little spectacle but the whole remains very bland and conventional.

Despite numerous inconsistencies (all the actors speak perfect English? while the action takes place in Barcelona?) and rather weak underlying plots, this new Netflix production has only one objective: to keep you breath to make you want to click “watch the next episode”.

And we are not the only ones of this opinion. Even if it offers the first place in the top series, Who is Erin Carter? is far from having convinced subscribers, if we go by the comments on the AlloCiné page and its average rating of 3.1/5 (for the moment):

“A British series not particularly original on the screenplay level, but which nevertheless proves to be entertaining and pleasant to follow. The heroine – who must weigh 45 kilos all wet – breaks the mouth at all costs, but if we disregard that, the fight scenes are pretty good. The story keeps the viewer spellbound and the casting is impeccable. I recommend !” (lyah)

Who is Erin Carter? Answer at the end of season 1…

“Series pleasant to watch despite the scriptwriting facilities and some inconsistencies. The fighting scenes are well done and the actors involved. It’s deja vu but it’s still well done. Series to see therefore.” (Kromarla)

“With a lot of good will, I tried to hold on, but I couldn’t because this series bored me to no end. It is a story without interest, undermined by implausibilities and errors of connection. In addition, it’s a totally improbable story with too much contrast of “anything” action scenes and useless chatter scenes. It boils down to “I didn’t get hooked at all” and gave up halfway through watching.” (Drive_H)

“If we remove the improbabilities (in all the episodes), an Evin Ahmad well below Snabba Cash and the annoying kid, we get an acceptable mini-series with a lot of mysteries revealed over the water and an environment quite nice in Barcelona. 2.5/5! (max)”. (Pascal)

“This series has no connection with logic, the girl gets beaten up with the greatest violence that exists and she stands up in the second without crossing out or hurting otherwise overall the series can be watched if we are not careful to small details. (Moh Dziri)
