This very dear Andrew Parker Bowles was not unknown to members of the royal family. Indeed, before marrying Camilla, he had wooed Princess Anne, then twenty years old. Only here, the British royal protocol would never have authorized their union because of their differences of religion: as a Catholic, he could not marry an Anglican.
