AuFeminin is interested in the first husband of the one who will soon become queen of a consort.

Long hated by Princes William and Harry, Camilla Parker Bowles married their father, Prince Charles, in April 2005. The two lovebirds lived a hidden relationship, dating back more than 20 years, when Prince Charles was still married to Lady Su. Andrew Parker Bowles, the man who turns all heads

This very dear Andrew Parker Bowles was not unknown to members of the royal family. Indeed, before marrying Camilla, he had wooed Princess Anne, then twenty years old. When they met in 1970 on a horse-racing ground, it was love at first sight. Only here, the British royal protocol would never have authorized their union because of their differences of religion: as a Catholic, he could not marry an Anglican. The British army officer then turned to Camilla Shand, whom he was quick to propose to. Despite this complex love affair, Andrew Parker Bowles maintains very good relations with Princess Anne, just like with the Duchess of Cornwall. At the height of his 82 years, he still regularly attends equestrian events alongside Princess Anne, and the Queen’s daughter has even chosen him as godfather of Zara Tindall. No rancor either on the side of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles: he attended their wedding on the arm of his second wife, Rosemary Pitman, who tragically died of cancer in January 2010.
