The 64th edition of the Grammy Awards is coming up. Who can hope for how many awards and where? Here are the answers.

Exactly one week after the most important film award was presented, the music industry will follow suit with the Grammys on April 3rd. Will there be as much hustle and bustle as after Will Smith’s (53) Oscar slap? The organizers certainly hope to be able to make headlines with more positive events. In any case, the prerequisites for this seem to be in place – a look at the nominees, the planned show acts and, last but not least, the sparkling venue shows that. Here are all the important facts shortly before the big event.

New place, new glamour?

As with the Oscars, Los Angeles is actually the traditional venue for the Grammys. This year, however, the ceremony will be held in “Sin City”, the desert city of Las Vegas in the state of Nevada. Various postponements due to the corona pandemic were cited as the reason. Instead of broadcasting from the Crypto.com Arena in LA, at least this year it will be broadcast from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas.

This is the host

Comedian and TV presenter Trevor Noah (38) leads through the evening. He is best known for his show “The Daily Show”, where he succeeded Jon Stewart (59), who had resigned. Most recently, his name caused a stir in connection with another world star: after Kanye West (44) racially insulted Noah via Instagram, among other things, the rapper’s profile was briefly blocked.

The comedian had addressed the mud fight between West and his ex Kim Kardashian (41), drawing the anger of the eccentric star. Another consequence: West, nominated for several Grammys himself, was uninvited by the organizers.

These stars will perform

A band, on the other hand, voluntarily withdrew, the reason is more than understandable: The Foo Fighters around singer Dave Grohl (53) should have performed at the Grammys. But the performance was canceled due to the sudden death of drummer Taylor Hawkins (1972-2022). Instead, there should be a tribute to the deceased.

The line-up is still impressive: Among others, Billie Eilish (20), Lady Gaga (36), BTS, Olivia Rodrigo (19), John Legend (43) and Lil Nas X (22) will appear, just to see to name a few.

Who could become the sweeper?

US musician Jon Batiste (35) starts the evening with the most chances of a Grammy – he has been nominated for eleven prizes. Justin Bieber (28), Doja Cat (26) and HER (24) each have eight nominations, while new Oscar winner Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo have seven each. Rodrigo will be given the best chances of winning in the most important categories.

By the way: Superstar Adele (33) is not nominated for her album “30”. But that’s not because the singer has been forgotten. Rather, the hit album came out after September 30, 2021 and was therefore no longer eligible for this year’s awards. This fate also met Ed Sheeran’s (31) “=”.

While it may seem impossible, it wasn’t until 2021 that Swedish band ABBA were nominated for a Grammy for the first time. Her song “I Still Have Faith In You” is up for “Record of the Year”.
