Which starter to choose in Pokémon Legends: Arceus
Types and developments of starters
Let’s start right away by being clear, there is no such thing as a “good” or “bad” starter. You might thus think that Moustillon is the best of the three, where unconditional fans of Héricendre will jump to your throat for having dared to say that. Each starter has their own type (s) and evolution (s) and this can help you make up your mind.
It should also be noted that Game Freak has yet to reveal whether and how these starters will be able to evolve. Indeed, many players believe that if we only see the starting forms of these Pokémon in the images released by Game Freak, it is for good reason. Some people imagine that Hericendre, Brindibou or even Moustillon, will have specific developments adopting a form of the Hisui region.
The players know it well, Brindibou evolves in Efflèche then in Archeduc, Héricendre for his part first becomes a Feurisson before evolving by intimidating Typhlosion. Moustillon for his part begins with a Mateloutre before taking the form of Clamiral. Still, this scheme is only valid in classic games, with Legendes Arceus, Hisui may have some big surprises in store for us.
The different advantages of starters
As of this writing, relatively little is still known about the layout of Legendes Arceus and what will be the first Pokémon you are likely to encounter. It is therefore quite difficult to give an advantage to one or the other of the starters at this stage of the available information.
We do know, however, that one, if not the first boss you will face will happen to be Chopper (Kleavor) in Obsidian Fieldlands, a Noble Pokémon, the new status introduced with Hisui. Being a Rock and Insect-type Pokémon, it will be low on Water, which your Moustillon can benefit from. Note however that Moustillon has the lowest stats among the three starters.
Hericendre has the best Speed and Special Attack, which will be very useful in your battles, especially to fill your Pokédex.
The best starter in Pokémon Legends: Arceus
Archeduc seems, on paper, to be the best starter. But the choice is yours!
That being said, our top pick right now is Brindibou for Pokémon Legends Arceus. Unlike the other two, it has the double Plant / Flight type which gives it wider attack coverage to respond to its opponents.
If the starters do evolve (the opposite would be surprising), Brindibou ends up becoming Archéduc who adopts the double type Plant and Specter where Héricendre and Moustillon will keep their starting type. This is undoubtedly what makes it slightly more interesting to start the adventure among its congeners. Finally, even if Typhlosion ends up with the best Speed and Special Attack, Archeduc comes very close.
