A few tears and a lot of emotion. By putting on the mayor's scarf, Michèle Rubirola is enjoying her victory. First woman at the head of the second city of France, the ecologist, doctor by training, joined the Greens in 2002, in the second round of the presidential election, opposing Jacques Chirac to Jean-Marie Le Pen. Her political experience was limited to an assistant position between 2008 and 2014, then she became a departmental councilor since 2015. As she says on a daily basis Provence, "When you are a sector assistant, there is not much you can do. But I loved marrying people!".

General practitioner for 20 years, mother of three children – a girl and two boys -, she dedicates herself to her patients. "My husband said I worked part time: 12 hours a day" she says on a daily basis. In 1996, she became a salaried doctor at the Primary Health Insurance Fund. Green from the start, she took action very early on nuclear power and the Superphenix reactor, against the dams of the Loire, in Puy-en-Velay, where she camped with her husband and daughter, then aged two. Also in the medical field, her husband is an administrative officer in a health center. "After thirty-five years, he's still in love with me! But he doesn't like being talked about too much …", she tells Release. Young grandmother, she can count on the support of her grandchildren, delighted that their eco-friendly grandmother will take over the reins of the city. "They told me, that way we will eat well in the canteen", she laughs.
