As in the previous year, Anke Engelke is lucky with “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” lost. In the end, she gambled away almost everything.

Anke Engelke (55) was a candidate for the celebrity edition of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” to leave happiness. For the eighth time, the comedian took part in a special from Günther Jauch (64) on May 24th. But in the end, as in the previous year, she was miles away from her previously won sums of between 125,000 and 500,000 euros. The question, which was worth a quarter of a million, gambled away and ended up with a disappointing 1,000 euros for a good cause.

Jauch wanted to know from her: “Which vegetables take up the largest cultivation area in Germany with more than 22,000 hectares?” The possible answers: asparagus (correct), carrots and carrots, cauliflower or spinach. She immediately ruled out the correct answer. When asparagus stopped after the “50/50” joker was drawn, she hoped for luck and logged in cauliflower – a decision that cost her 249,000 euros. Engelke had previously threatened the moderator: “If I go out with 1,000, I’ll come back.” So she will have to face the show a ninth time.

Better luck with the other candidates

Last year Engelke failed because of the 125,000 euro question after a joker gave her the wrong answer. At that time she went home with only 500 euros. Overall, however, she cannot complain. In her first six appearances at Jauch, she earned a total of 2,250,000 euros for the good cause – this is offset by 1,500 euros from the two previous editions.

In addition to Engelke, there were also Oliver Pocher (43), Barbara Schöneberger (47) and Thomas Gottschalk (71) in the latest celebrity gamer special. All three had already managed to clear the million in episodes before. The stars were denied the very high sums this time. In the end, each of them earned 125,000 euros.
