In the first "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" Episode of the New Year, Günther Jauch sits across from the grandson of the world-famous politician Helmut Kohl.
In the first episode of the knowledge show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" (4.1., 8:15 p.m., RTL) in the new year a certain Johannes Volkmann will sit in the candidate's chair and with the help of Günther Jauch (64) try to find his way to the million While the name should hardly mean anything to anyone, that of his grandfather is extremely well known: Helmut Kohl (1930-2017)! Jauch can't hold back and has to ask the 23-year-old one or two questions about family.
Like his grandfather, who died in 2017, Volkmann is also active in the CDU and proud of a lot of what he has achieved politically. Nevertheless, he does not want to be reduced to his famous ancestor, as he explains in an interview with RTL: "If you have a big family name – fortunately, I have my mother's name – it quickly happens that you have one someone likes or dislikes because of what the family man has done and not because of their own performance. "
Helmut Kohl was Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany from 1982 to 1998.
