Expected for July 9, 2025 at the cinema, Superman Legacy should soon reveal the new face of Henry Cavill’s successor. Who will don the tights and the cape of the last son of Krypton?
According Borys Kitjournalist for The Hollywood Reporter, James Gunn would have reduced his list of contenders for the role to 3 names: David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney.

The director is currently carrying out costume tests with the actors.

Three actresses would also be on James Gunn’s short list to play Lois Lane, Clark Kent’s emblematic accomplice in the newspaper The Daily Planet. The actresses in the running to interpret the journalist would be Emma Mackey, Phoebe Dynevor and Rachel Brosnahan.

James Gunn and his team are currently carrying out “screen tests” with these six artists in make-up and wearing their costumes. It is not yet known when the filmmaker will make his decision but the deadline seems very close.

Superman Legacy will focus on Superman’s quest to find a balance between his Kryptonian heritage and his human upbringing as Clark Kent. Currently in pre-production, filming for the film will begin in January 2024 for a planned release on July 9, 2025.
The first phase of the DC Universe, called “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters”, will be explored through several films and series. Among the projects announced by James Gunn last February, we can mention three feature films: The Brave and the Bold centered on Batman and Robin, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow which will feature Superman’s cousin, and a film Swamp Thing.
