TF1 seizes on the appalling Daval affair to transpose it into a TV movie. The names of the two main actors have been revealed.
In October 2017, the body of a 29-year-old young woman, Alexia Daval, was found charred in a wood in Haute-Saône, two days after her companion had reported her disappearance. Her husband Jonathann, 34 years old at the time of the facts, had warned the police that his wife had left for her jogging and had never returned. After several silent marches, multiple tearful media appearances alongside the parents of this bank employee and three months of investigation, the grieving husband confessed to an accidental murder. This judicial soap opera, which dumbfounded the French, will soon be adapted into television fiction for TF1, as revealed the channel to Close, Saturday December 11. The unit will focus on the news item, from the discovery of the body to the trial.
For this production, the first channel called on two actors that she knows well. Liam Baty and Maud Baecker, both recurring characters in the hit series Tomorrow Belongs to Us, will play Jonathann and Alexia Daval. Michèle Bernier will play Isabelle Fouillot, the victim’s mother. Filming is scheduled to begin on December 13 in the Lyon region.
A series in preparation
Last November, Gaumont had also expressed his interest in feminicide, by purchasing the rights to Isabelle and Jean-Pierre Fouillot’s book entitled Alexia, notre fille. A series of six episodes, co-written by the parents of the young woman, should relate the journey of Alexia, from her meeting with her future husband at the age of 16, until his death.
