” Whoops ! I missed the ark again ”, fake news from the hairy beasts

THE OPINION OF THE “WORLD” – WHY NOT

To prepare the youngest for any eventuality, the creators of this digital cartoon have seen fit to diversify in terms of ecological disasters. Inspired by the biblical story, the first part (Whoops ! I missed the ark, 2015) was torrential. Six years later, the second shook the earth in a lava tsunami. Whoops ! I missed the ark again all the same resumes its original thesis: to illustrate the beautiful use of living together. “You can avoid squatting on the deckchairs, that’s not how it happens in paradise”, commands the lion Leonardo, in one of the witticisms of the film.

Political front

After one hundred and forty-seven days at sea, the animals of the Ark, affected by a food shortage, have finally found a piece of land, as comfortable as a Club Med, with coves, palm trees and deckchairs. But this verdant Eden is only an illusion. First of all, about us: it’s populated by hairy beasts that look like discount plush toys sold at supermarket checkouts (the animation is rudimentary and the colors gaudy). And, with regard to the residents of the Ark, who fall on a bone: Patch, the dean of this little paradise under a bell, favors national priority.

Rather than being encumbered with a myriad of fights, good to stuff adventure films in lack of ideas, the directors manage to go up to the political front without denying the entertainment. Gags in support, they apply themselves to highlighting the populist logic at work: advised by a crustacean who tries to demonize his image, Patch delivers false information to a crowd of gullible “choupinets”, who fabricate in his effigy a Trojan horse, whose observation post is lurking in the hindquarters. The film will not cause the thrill of beautiful, fluid and feline animation, but will prepare children for the election of class delegates.

German, Irish, Luxembourgish animated film by Toby Genkel and Sean McCormarck (1 h 32).
