Following the invasion of Ukraine by Russia last February, numerous sanctions were taken against the country led by Vladimir Putin. Several websites have been sidelined…

In an effort to get in tune with the sanctions decreed by the United Kingdom against Russia, Apple had removed several applications from its online store last month. This was the case for Mail.ru messaging, but also for VKontakte (a kind of Russian-style Facebook) and other lesser-known sites.

A justified return?

However, the social network made its comeback on the App Store this week. A measure decided by Apple and justified by a spokesperson for the American firm.

Following the removal (of the app), the developer has provided the required information to verify that it is not majority owned or controlled by a sanctioned entity. The applications have therefore been reintegrated into the App Store. »

Thus, this social network which is among the most popular in Russia was able to return to the App Store since its parent company is probably not run by a company under international sanctions.
