To defend its solidarity model, Emmaüs recently attacked… Vinted!

And for that, what better than to infiltrate directly on the sales platform?

Alert at Emmaus

For a few years now, second-hand platforms (Leboncoin, Vinted, etc.) have enabled millions of Internet users to resell clothes, toys, furniture and other decorative items. For Emmaüs, this emergence deprives the association of many donations, and above all of quality donations. Emmaüs thus indicates that it can sell only 40% of the objects collected, compared to 60% 20 years ago.

Also, Emmaüs (foundation created by Abbé Pierre in 1949) is launching a national appeal which aims to revalorize the gift of objects, but also to attract the youngest generations, those even who do not always know the model of second solidarity hand invented by the Emmaus Movement. To do this, the association’s web teams recently infiltrated the Vinted network.

Emmaus’ response to Vinted, in Vinted

Indeed, a few days ago, the Emmaüs association published real “false” announcements on Vinted from an account created especially for the occasion: Emma_Us. Each advertisement made it possible to discover a piece of clothing on which one could read the message: “ If you don’t wear it, give it away! »

For Emmaus, the objective is clear: “ Value the gift, give it meaning, explain that giving to Emmaus means acting for solidarity and the environment. The association indicates that personalities such as Michel Cymes, Jonathan Cohen, or even Mouloud Achour will also carry the message of Emmaüs.

The items offered on Vinted are not really for sale, but each constitute an invitation to more sobriety in our consumption patterns, to promote a more sustainable model of society and to respond to the ecological challenge of our century.

To make donations, the association invites the French to (re)discover the Emmaüs space closest to their home, not to mention the 23,000 textile terminals (Le Relais) present throughout the territory. Each year, Emmaüs collects more than 320,000 tonnes of diverse and varied objects: clothing, furniture, electronic devices, toys, etc.
