Are your children minors and educated in primary, college or high school? You thought you were entitled to the back-to-school allowance (ARS) but you still haven’t received anything? Do not panic: there are exceptions to the automatic payment of this aid by the CAF.

A real blessing for families who have to face the costs associated with returning to school, the ARS has another huge advantage: it is pays automatically by the family allowance funds. You therefore have no steps to take to receive this year 398.09 euros for your school children aged 6 to 10, 420.05 euros for 11 to 14 years and 434.61 euros for 15 to 18 years. Check your account: the transfer should have arrived on August 16th.

Still haven’t received anything? Start by checking that you comply with the resource criteria considered by the CAF: less than 25,775 euros in resources with one child, less than 31,723 euros with 2 children, etc.

Payment is not automatic for everyone
Do your resources actually give you a right to the ARS? Do not panic, all is not lost. There is, in fact, two exceptions to the automatic nature of the payment of the allowance.
The first concerns children aged 16 or over, who are therefore above compulsory school age. In this case, the CAF does not automatically pay the ARS. To receive the expected 434 euros, you must inform CAF that your child is still in school.
You normally received an email in July reminding you of this obligation. Fortunately, there is still time to take action. How? By logging in, with your social security number, to your beneficiary area on the CAF website or mobile application, then consulting the red box My alerts.
5-year-old children in CP are also eligible
The 2nd exception concerns the children entering first grade when they are not yet 6 years old. They too are eligible for the ARS, of 398 euros in this case, if you meet the income criteria. But the payment, again, is not automatic: to receive aid, you must send, as soon as possible, a school certificateissued by his school, your CAF.
