Why Hugh Jackman turned down the role of James Bond

Hugh Jackman could have played Wolverine AND James Bond! In any case, this is what the actor reveals in a new interview.

Wolverine 007?! This is what almost happened if we are to believe actor Hugh Jackman. The latter has just revealed to the Indiewire media that he had refused the role of James Bond, which was offered to him when he was already filming the X-Men films in which he plays Logan alias Wolverine.

His refusal was not an easy decision to make because, by his own admission, “to be a great action star”that is what “brought American cinema to life”. Here’s how Jackman justifies his choice to focus solely on Wolverine:

I have studied the question. I said to myself: ‘if I do [Bond] Wolverine, I wouldn’t have time for anything else. I really find it more interesting to play characters who stand out.

And indeed, between two films related to the X-Men, Jackman managed to shoot for Darren Aronovsky (The Fountain), Christopher Nolan (The Prestige), Baz Luhrmann (Australia) or Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners).

This also led to the choice of another actor to play James Bond, Daniel Craig, the time of five feature films forming a single narrative arc, from Casino Royale (2006) to Dying can wait (2021). The refusal of one has created the opportunity of the other!
