Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI and creator of ChatGPT, split a long message imbued with as much positivity as negativity on AI.
Following criticism of its popular GPT-3 model for being too biased, OpenAI unveiled plans to customize its responses. Sam Altman reflected on this announcement by presenting his point of view on the many benefits of the rise of artificial intelligence… provided you don’t get too excited.

The opposite would have been surprising: the man behind OpenAI and among others ChatGPT believes that artificial intelligence can ultimately make the world a better place, especially in the field of health. However, he also calls (quite ironically) for caution on this subject.
While companies and individuals are seized with an explosive fever around AI, Sam Altman indicates that it is better to keep a cool head (it will be difficult for OpenAI, now that Microsoft has invested heavily in it). According to him, AIs potentially terrifying are on our doorstep, and it wouldn’t take much to let them in.

He believes despite everything that humanity will one day manage to live in a world populated by artificial intelligences.
If it’s broken, we can still fix it
But to arrive at this utopian (or dystopian?) future, Sam Altman recommends several preliminary elements to the domination… coexistence of AIs with humanity. In particular, institutions and States must step up the pace to establish guidelines and legislation to oversee the exponential development of these tools.
Sam Altman also believes that the evolution of an artificial intelligence must be done collectively. Making models in an embryonic state (i.e. far from being operational) available to the public is, according to him, a crucial step for a possible coexistence between AI and humans, each learning from the other (despite a few little tricksters who seek to upset them).
