The President of the Republic will travel to the Hautes-Pyrénées this Friday. A private visit to honor the memory of his grandmother, who died in 2013. But this trip will not only be personal, the Head of State will also visit craftsmen and traders to discuss rurality.

The candidate Emmanuel Macron had entrusted it on April 6 to the 20 hour newspaper of TF1. And the president re-elected last Sunday, with 58.55% of the vote, will keep his word. He is expected this Friday in the Hautes-Pyrénées, to honor the memory of his grandmother.

His grandmother died in 2013

On the spot, Emmanuel Macron will go to the cemetery of the village of Montgaillard to meditate on the grave of his maternal grandmother, who died in 2013. Germaine Nogues counted a lot in the life of the head of state. He says himself that this former headmistress taught him how to work and passed on his love of literature.

She lived in Bagnères-de-Bigorre in this department of Hautes-Pyrénées where Emmanuel Macron therefore spent part of his childhood with the one he nicknamed “Manette”. It is no coincidence that it is one of the territories where he traveled the most during his first term.

Official visits also on the program

This visit will also be accompanied by a more official section, with a sequence devoted to rural life. The president will go to a small market at the gates of Tarbes where he will meet inhabitants, craftsmen and traders in the middle of the day.
