Last December, the 5.3% increase in basic pensions was widely reported and commented on. But the subtleties of the pension payment schedule led Carsat and Cnav pensioners to wait until Friday February 9 to benefit from their 2024 increase.
This is a totally unprecedented increase! The increase in 5.3% of basic pensions is all the more striking, once reflected in the bank account, as last year’s increases were made in two installments, 4% then 0.8%. The 5.3% revaluation therefore has a completely unprecedented impact on the 15 million withdrawals from the general scheme, since inflation has obviously not reached such heights for ages. This is, in fact, an unprecedented increase in the 21st century for basic pensions.
For a basic pension of 1500 euros gross, the bonus is still almost 80 euros per month! This increase was undesirable. Due to the Cnav and Carsat payment schedule (except Carsat d’Alsace-Moselle), you must wait until the 9th day of the month following that of the pension due to receive your monthly pension: therefore February 9 for the pension for the month of January.

As a reminder, this increase of 5.3%, the result of a formula taking into account inflation over 24 months, is even higher than what was initially announced by the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, who had mentioned an increase of 5.2% in September 2023 when it was time to present the 2024 budget.
