Today is the professional manicure and nail artist Yuko whom we interviewed and who answers a question that we often ask ourselves: why does my nail polish not hold?

You are proud of your new manicure house that you spent time making. However, a few days or even hours after applying your nail polish he peels off ? There are some errors not to commit before, during but also after the application of its varnish.

Do not wet your hands before and after your manicure

Yuko explains that the fingernail is like a sponge : “it absorbs water and changes shape on contact. When it dries, it shrinks. This movement prevents total adhesion varnish on the nails and cracks the varnish”. To avoid this, Yuko recommends applying a desiccant with a cotton ball to remove all traces of water.

Do not have greasy nails

It’s not just the water that disrupts the hold of the varnish. “The fatty substanceslike cream and oil formulas, range move the varnish”, as Yuko explains. Be sure not to put on any hand cream, oil, lotion or any other so-called “oily” substance” before applying your polish. Otherwise, the color and material of the polish may not fully adhere.

Apply base before varnish

The nail artist also recommends that you apply a coat of based before painting your nails, and one of top coat to protect the varnish. Yuko explains: “The color alone does not adhere to the nail and the top coat makes it possible to protect the pigments. There are varnishes whose the base is integrated with the color so that it attaches better to the nail”. Vinylux’s CND range, recommended by Yuko, lasts for 7 days without flaking.

The products that change everything:

You have to wait about 1 hour after an activity where the hand touches the water to do your manicure, even after applying the varnish.
