For nearly a year, Tesla has been marketing an electric mini-quad, the Cyberquad.

Today, we learn that the latter is part of a recall campaign because of safety concerns.

A security problem on the Tesla Cyberquad

At the very end of last year, Tesla launched Cyberquad, a small 100% electric quad for children, displayed at less than 2,000 dollars. This project was headed by Tesla, but had been developed by the company Radio Flyer. The latter is now forced to carry out a major recall and reimburse buyers.

Indeed, despite its “toy” aspect, the Cyberquad is considered an authentic ATV and must therefore meet various very strict safety criteria. And at this level, according to the
Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)
the Cyberquad was not able to win the precious approval, the fault of deficiencies linked to the mechanical suspensions and the tire pressure.

Also, Radio Flyer invites owners to be reimbursed, by returning not the Cyberquad… but only the part that regulates the engine. There is therefore no need to return the complete machine to benefit from a full refund.

Obviously, without the part in question, it goes without saying that the Cyberquad becomes perfectly unusable, but it can nevertheless be kept by its owners. In total, 5,000 Cyberquads were produced and sold.
