why is the disease mainly transmitted through sex between men? An infectious disease specialist explains

The monkeypox epidemic is currently affecting “overwhelmingly men who have sex with men”, explains Nathan Peiffer-Smadja, from the Parisian Bichat hospital. The researchers can confirm this after observing that many lesions related to the disease appeared “at the level of the penis, anus and pharynx”, he specifies.

However, the monkeypox virus is not considered a sexually transmitted infection (STI) because these are characterized by contamination through sexual secretions. However, at present, research has not proven that the monkeypox virus was present in these secretions.
