Why is there a dotted line between India and China? Understand in three minutes

Arunachal Pradesh in the east, the Doklam Plateau in the center and Aksai Chin in the west: these three border areas between China and India, although thousands of kilometers apart, have similarities.

Perched at the top of the Himalayan mountain range, they are difficult to access, sparsely populated and do not have highly lucrative natural resources. On the other hand, these three zones in no way constitute a strategic or military asset for whoever controls them.

However, the two countries absolutely want to exercise their sovereignty over these territories and make it above all a question of principle, even of national pride.

This video is the fifth in our “Dots” series. The goal: to explain the conflicts and tensions that hide behind the borders that appear dotted on Google Maps. New episodes will be regularly broadcast on the site of the World as well as on our various social networks (instagram, TikTok, Snapchat).
