Why she wants Instagram to end

She has the fourth most followers on Instagram, but it would be Selena Gomez (27, "Lose you to love me") if the platform didn't exist. The singer admitted in an interview with the US magazine "Dazed". "I would be lying if I didn't say it would destroy my generation's identity."

The photo sharing platform has over a billion users worldwide, including a large number of young women. Gomez believes that these would be harmed by the app; the pursuit of apparent perfection was too unhealthy. If she could push a button and get rid of the app, she would do it, Gomez affirms.

In 2018, the 27-year-old took a break from the app. She has only recently been back on Instagram, but only when she needs it. She is much happier with herself and her looks if she doesn't use the app, says the singer. "We put ourselves under pressure because we think we should look like everyone else," says Gomez. That's why she called her new album "Rare", so "rare". "We're not made to look the same, we're designed to be unique," she said on a US talk show a few weeks ago.
