Why should you avoid the names "dad" or "mom" in the smartphone?

Affectionate nicknames, or the names "dad" or "mom", can allow crooks and thieves of smartphones to extract money from your relatives, warns Anatoly Mironov, lawyer and head of the "defense" branch of the Moscow bar .

Be careful with the names you give to your contacts on your smartphone! It is well known that phones store a lot of personal data. A gold mine for crooks if the device is stolen. While it is therefore recommended not to save your bank card codes or those of a building / house, you should also not enter the family ties with your contacts in the smartphone!

In any case, that is what Anatoly Mironov, lawyer and head of the defense branch of the Moscow bar, advised in an interview with Prime News Agency. Information spotted by the W24News site. According to the lawyer, putting "mom", "dad" or even "sister", in effect, gives the possibility to the crooks to extract money from them using pretexts "Ranging from a traffic accident and being taken into custody, to stories of non-existent debts or information that compromises you and which can only be destroyed after the transfer of an impressive sum of money".

If the phone has been stolen, it is difficult for its user to contact relatives to warn them. On the other hand, those who have found or stolen the smartphone can contact them on your behalf or that of your child, if the device belonged to them! "Be careful and check the contents of your phone from time to time, correct and delete information that could potentially harm you", warns Anatoly Mironov. You can set up special nicknames, for example – but avoid them being too affectionate, so as not to put them on the track. Also, advise your child, if they have a smartphone, to always store it in a pocket in their bag and to avoid taking it out in crowded public places, such as the subway, where thefts often occur.
