The employees of “20 Minutes” went on strike and the free newspaper was therefore not printed and distributed on Friday. In question, the social plan announced by the management of the newspaper on March 31. The strikers denounce a “brutal” announcement of measures aimed at redressing the accounts of the publication.

You did not find the free newspaper 20 minutes Friday morning at the exit of your metro station or at the bus stop. And for good reason: the edition of the day has not been distributed. This non-publication is the consequence of the strike of the newspaper’s employees. They are protesting against the social plan announced by their management on March 31. An announcement considered “brutal” by employees. The measures provided for in this social plan must solve the problem of the very heavy financial losses of 20 minutes for a few years.

33 positions threatened out of 200

This social plan provides for the elimination of 33 posts, half of which are journalists. These measures will be launched by the end of May. They will also lead to the end of the distribution of the newspaper in Rennes, Nantes, Strasbourg and Nice. The Society of Journalists 20 minutes announced on Twitter that Friday’s newspaper would not appear, specifying that the employees denounce “the opacity and the absence of strategy while 33 positions out of nearly 200 are threatened”.

If the newspaper had so far 12 editions, this social plan will reduce it to only two editions: one for Ile-de-France and a national edition which will be distributed in the region.
