Why the Google Pixel Tablet is getting smarter by lowering its price

Google’s Circle to Search AI feature is rolling out to all Pixel Tablets via a new feature drop from Google.

With its characteristic discretion, Google has just brought the Circle to Search function to its hybrid tablet. Until now, Circle to Search was only available on Pixel Tablet to users who had installed the Android 15 beta.

A first AI function for the Pixel Tablet

After the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro in January, then the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro in March, it’s the turn of Google’s tablet to benefit from this artificial intelligence functionality.

With it, you can surround an area of ​​the screen with your fingertip, a sort of lasso of a space, to carry out a Google search based on the elements displayed. A shoe in a photo, simply circle it to get a result corresponding to the model displayed, for example. We have a Google Lens that is more efficient and accessible more quickly everywhere.

Also called Circle to Search, this is Google’s first artificial intelligence milestone. Moreover, at Samsung, it is the only one in its Galaxy AI ecosystem that is ported to the Galaxy S21 via their latest update.

The Pixel Tablet drops its price

Following its announcement, Google indicated that it was lowering the price of its Pixel Tablet. Launched at 679 euros in 2023, it now rises to 499 euros. Be careful, there is a subterfuge. This new price only includes the tablet and not its base. To have it in a pack, you have to add 100 euros. The actual reduction is 80 euros. The question then arises of the interest of a Pixel Tablet without a dock. This half-tablet, half-home automation console hybridization is what makes it stand out.

If it is just a tablet, it will have even more difficulty standing out from the competition. Because its hardware is still quite basic with a Tensor G2, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. It’s the same configuration as a Pixel 7 which was already not very fast. Nothing to differentiate it from Samsung or Apple tablets.
