why the subscription price will increase

Disney announced this Thursday, December 10, 2020, that the Disney + subscription will increase in February 2021. We explain why.

Disney + will no longer cost 6.99 euros, as has been the case since its launch in spring 2020. The subscription will increase to 8.99 euros in France. It was on December 10, 2020, during Investor Day, broadcast live, that the firm announced. This increase will arrive on February 23, 2021 and will be effective in the rest of Europe, but also in Canada, Australia, New Zealand as well as Singapore. If you are already a Disney + subscriber, your subscription at 6.99 euros per month will be kept until August of next year. Only then will it drop to 8.99 euros per month. In addition, we do not yet have information on the annual subscriptions, which correspond to 69.99 euros. The same is true for French subscriptions via Canal +.

A new section for adults on Disney +

This change is justified by the arrival of a new section on Disney + which is called Star and which will not be optional. So we'll have no choice but to have this new category aimed at an adult audience, according to Disney statements. New works will therefore land on the platform, including those of FOX, and more precisely of the 20 th Century studios, ABC, FX, Freeform, Searchlight. Among these, we can notably count the excellent series Atlanta by Donald Glover. In other words, the new content will be intended for more mature subscribers. It remains to be seen what will be available on the Disney + catalog in France, given the time taken to acquire rights with us, not to mention the media chronology which often slows down access to certain works on VOD.
